Science Test

For the digestive system, you need to know the large intestine, the small intestine, the stomach, and the liver.

Here are some of the things I promised for the science test. I will add more later.

For this skeleton, you DO NOT need to memorize the illium, the sacrum, or the pubis. You are not in medical school. :p

Extra Credit opportunity for History

If you complete the following project, its grade will replace your lowest exam grade.

  1. Choose one of the following dates in Mexican or world history.
  2. Get your teacher’s approval for the date you picked.
  3. Create a visual presentation that represents the date you chose. The presentation must be visible from half of a meter away and must be no larger than a sheet of posterboard (cartulina).
  4. Essays, outlines, note cards, powerpoints, or any other form of written material will NOT be accepted for this project. The idea is to be creative!

Endangered/Extinct animal brochure.

Hi, guys!

Use any of the following websites ( or, if you really want that extra credit, use them all!) to complete your endangered or extinct animal brochure:

This list of endangered animals is alphabetical and is according to general type of animal. You should find THOUSANDS of choices on this website. :)

KidsKonnect on basic information about being endangered (not on the animals themselves).

EnchantedLearning has some coloring sheets and information on several different endangered animals. You can't print what they have, but you may use their information.

This website is what we call a virtual museum that will tell you stories, show you pictures, maps, and dates. You have to click on the different links (Tour of the Exhibit, Legend of the Meeps Island Flying Frog, etc) on the left side of the page to keep going.

This website has a lot of information, including some encyclopedia resources.

Want to learn about one of the world's rarest animals??? Use this website that includes only rare animals!

This website is a gallery (pictures with tiny bits of information) of all the extinct animals. Use it to choose your extinct animal, then do a google search with its name.

Enchanted learning also has a lot of coloring sheets and information on extinct animals.

Explorers for the 5th-6th History class

What you need for this activity:
*the map your teacher gave you.
*colored pencils (at least 6 different colors)

Use different colors to trace the different routes each explorer/conquistador took on his voyages. When you are finished, create a legend/key/llave on the map to show which color is which explorer. Make sure you turn in your completed map with both of your names on it so that Miss Melby can give you a grade.

Go to this map with your partner and use it to draw the exploration routes of Columbus, DeSoto, Coronado, and Cabrillo on your map. To see where each explorer traveled, click on his name on the legend to see the route appear. Take turns with your partner copying what you see onto your map.

Use the picture below to trace the route of Cortes and Ponce de Leon. If you click on it, it SHOULD get bigger.
